Introduction
Veolia Dagenham Plastics is based in Dagenham in Essex. The facility operates a bottle-to-bottle recycling plant for HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) milk bottles. Recycling collections are sorted, cleaned, granulated, reprocessed and decontaminated into pelletised material suitable for new food and beverage packaging.
The plastic waste is controlled throughout collection and pre-processing by means of quality assurance systems meeting ISO 9001 standards. The Dagenham plant has a capacity of 14,000 tonnes per annum. The process has a Letter of No objection from the FDA. The recycle number is 108. Dated Apr 20, 2007.
The application for authorization was registered with EFSA as Question number EFSA-Q-2010-00020. The recycling process number is RECYC063. EFSA CEF panel requested that "additional data should be provided before it can conclude on the safety assessment".
